CRP1. What is CRP? CRP is the Community Rehabilitation Program and is the only form of funded physiotherapy remaining. Each resident of the Capital Health Region (now called Alberta Health Services) is eligible for one assessment per body part per year. If your problem meets the criteria you may receive two more funded visits. 2. Is there a wait list for CRP? Due to the limited funding there is generally a wait of 2 to 3 weeks for a funded assessment but this may vary according to demand. 3. Does everyone rate into CRP? No. Your injury will be rated on a 15 point Determination Of Needs Form (DON). If your score is 7 or above you will rate into CRP. If your score is 6 or below you will not rate into CRP. The DON form rates your injury with respect to severity, impact and clinic wait lists. 4. What is covered if I rate into CRP? * If you rate into CRP you will be eligible for 2 additional funded visits unless you meet the low income requirements of the Capital Health Authority (CHA) in which case you will eligible for a total of 7 visits. If you feel that you may meet these requirements please refer to CHA information or discuss this with our office manager or your physiotherapist. * If you have had an orthopedic surgery or a fracture and you rate into CRP, you will be covered for 7 visits total including your assessment and may be eligible for an extension if required. 5. What if I need further treatment after my CRP coverage runs out? Following CRP funding you will move into private funding and will be required to pay for your physiotherapy treatment. We will provide you with all required paperwork to seek reimbursement by any private health coverage you may carry. 6. If I don’t rate into CRP what are my options? If you do not rate into CRP you will move directly into private funding and will be required to pay for your treatment and seek reimbursement from any private health insurance you may carry. 7. I am a Senior Citizen – Are my physiotherapy treatments covered? There is no special coverage for senior citizens through CRP. The seniors’ basic Group 66 coverage through Alberta Blue Cross does not have any coverage for physiotherapy either. The Alberta Physiotherapy Association is working very hard to get physiotherapy included in the Group 66 coverage. |
